Hi Z4 friends,

I am the new owner of Z4 with 18" wheels. I want to lower it app. 20 mm. I have seen the debat and discussions in this forum, but as it is all in german language and often very technical, I hope to get some help in english language.

My reason to lower it is primarily for the look.

1) Is it OK to lower it by simply replacing the springs to Weitec or Eibach?

2) What is the most simple (and economical) way to lower it 20 mm?

Looking forward to your response

Hi there,

My Z4 is lowered by Eibach and upped by offroad-package of the E46. So the front is 30mm nearer to the earth and in the back my car is 20 mm lower.

offroad-parts: 2 x 33531094754
shown as No. 18: RealOEM.COM " BMW E46 330i REAR SPRING STRUT MOUNTING PARTS

Weitec-Springs aren't popular, so you should use Eibach-Springs.

the middle picture is without the offroad-parts ... that's the reason, why this uppering by 10 mm was neccassary for me.

Hi Jokin,

Thanks for a very quick response.

Have I understood it correctly?

You have lowered your Z4 using Eibach springs. But it was too low, so you mounted
the part marked as no. 18 to make it a little higher again, so final result is the front is 30mm nearer to the earth and in the back my car is 20 mm lower.

If correct. Do you have the spare part number for the Eibach springs?

Thanks a lot for the help.

I think Jokin's Z4 wasn't too low. It just looks better and is more in line with the design of the Z4, if you lower the front by 30 mm and the rear by 20 mm.

... that's right :t

In "my opinion" my Z4 was in the back too low, like a pig, has eaten too much. B;

But most of the drivers in this board are very happy with their lowering by h&r or Eibach.

Eibach-Springs haven't any BMW-Number. But you should try to get them by your BMW-Dealer ... or any other car-parts-shop.

Hi,

if you have the M-suspension, consider that it is already 15mm lower. The difference to Eibach springs is then only 15 mm.

I have Votgland, the springs lowering the car 30mm (so is writen) but the car comes 40mm lower (I have 3.0 motor, with the 2.5 i thint it will be lower ~35mm). On the rear axel I have also the offroad-package of the E46. On the foto you can see that when I`m siting in the car is it very goog in the line at teh front & raer axel. Without the offroad-package will be the rear axel more lowerder then the front axel and it will look like "Jokin" has writen a pig, what has eaten too much. The problem in Z4 ist that the pasengrs are siting very near the rear axel, in for example E46 the pasengers are siting in the middle of the car and the all car comes lower, by Z4 only the raer axel.

Lowering my Z4 - Help wanted in english

Hi guys,

Thx for all the good answers. I have stock suspension and I have decided to mount 4 Eibach springs.

Where do I get the best price (definetely not from BMW in Denmark). Do any of you know an e-shop with free delivery in Germany?

Regards,

Hi again,

I have ordered the Eibach springs (thx for the good advices), and want to make my Z4 a little wider at the same time, for optical reasons. I do not want it to be ekstreme. I was considering 2x24 mm from Eibach on the rear and nothing on the front. What is your opinion? I guess I have to buy new bolts? Any part numbers?

Thanks again
