Grinding noise from Vanos?

Hello,

when my 6 month old Z4 2.5 is in idle and a push the throttle full for 1/2 second n (goes to 2000rpm) , I hear this rather loud metallic grinding noise coming grom the engine... I swear it wasn't there before.

It does it when the engine is cold AND warm: between 800 rpm-2000 rpm

Do you guys/girls think it is normal??

I don't think, that this is a regular noise. You should contact your cardealer and don't forget to inform us about the results...

Ok,

car has been in the dealership for 2 days... they replaced the PCV-valve but the sound is still there... dealer hasn't got a clue and so decided it is all within tolerance levels!

Got some more info: car in neutral or clutch pressed: press the throttle for 1/2 second and the revs will go from about 800 to 2000. Within this very short period I hear an "psssshhht" sound coming from the engine. Dealer says it is "normal" intake sound. BUT when I shut down the engine, about 3 seconds later, I hear again this "pssshhhtt"... sounds like a valve closing...

Anyone has an idea?

look for an other (better) BMW dealer. You have guarantee everywhere.
